Organised pub crawls are set to be banned in the Czech capital from 10 pm until 6 am in a bid to curb noise pollution in the city.
According to UK stag and hen do experts, StagWeb.co.uk and GoHen.com, this could result in many partiers looking to Portugal for their big pre-wedding celebrations.
“Post-pandemic, we saw a big drop-off in people heading to Eastern Europe in favour of Spanish and Portuguese destinations and that will almost certainly increase in 2025 following Prague’s decision to ban organised pub crawls,” said Jon Stainer, Creative Director at StagWeb and GoHen.
“Initially, the war in Ukraine was causing a lot of uncertainty in the region and saw people looking elsewhere but we were expecting travel to return to the region in 2025.
“However, introducing a pub crawl ban is a statement for stags and hens to think twice about heading to Prague and we expect even more to turn to Spain and Portugal next year.
“Whether it’s Lisbon, Albufeira, or elsewhere, Portugal is known for its vibrant nightlife and welcoming atmosphere and is perfectly positioned to benefit economically from this.
“In 2019, Prague was our most popular destination by far but has since dropped off with Lisbon and Albufeira both rising above as popular party destinations.”

Like its not enough having to deal with these despising habit during flights, now we have to expect more of your debauchery, hooliganism, and inconsequential monkey foolery in our country? No wonder far-right is gaining more traction in Portugal.

Been coming to albufera since 1987 before what the place is like now. The changes with the amount of drunken people has spoiled this beautiful place to an unprecedented high and things have to change for the local people and for the families that will eventually turn their backs on the amazing part of the world. I don't want to be a party pooper by any means but things have gone too far! Drunks beyond drunk, the drugs that are being offered 24/7, the outrageous nudity and the hostile environment that it brings. I feel ashamed to see so many young Brits behave the way they do and it really must change! The local council needs to act and act reasonably to get the right balance so that it can once again be that safe, beautiful, amazing place where the respect given all my life by the locals should be given back.

It is despicable to foster drunkenness here in Portugal. The phenom is why we avoid those places. Drunks are obnoxious. Why is promoting alcoholism so accepted while making less damaging use of cannabis a “drug problem”?

This is awful news for Algarve. To see young people misbehave in bars, restaurants and streets will turn residents off and create frictions between tourists and the native population.

To attract votes from both portuguese and resident estrangeiros, maybe they should also ban them. Not only does it harm the country it puts off far more well behaved tourists who are generally here for longer and spend more money.

Speaking as a guy from the UK with Portuguese residency (with currently around 50%-50% in each Country), I would strongly urge Portugal to consider banning such activity! Well for the Brits anyway :-).... There are many many people in the UK that love, and would love if they only knew, Portugal. What cannot be allowed to happen is that Lisbon and The Algarve etc gets a name like certain areas of the lovely Country that borders Portugal.

In response to 'J' s comment on this string. Some behaviour of the Brits (and other Northern European
Citizens) is appalling and shameful and I am embarrassed to be from the UK sometimes. However the solution is in the hands of the government and local authorities. If you don't want these people here make it difficult for them, change the laws etc. If Prague can do it then the towns and cities here can do it as well.

PRAGUE IS NOT IN EASTERN EUROPE!! PRAGUE IS FURTHER WEST THAN ROME OR BERLIN.

I worked in Dubai in the 90's and remember when a British naval vessel docked the crew were banned from entering Dubai, whereas French and German crews were allowed!

This type of business offers value to one entity only: the company that books the drunken, embarrassing display of low moral losers. This results in the devaluation of business because people who do not enjoy this behavior stay away. We pay the bills for these businesses all year round and support the local market. I avoid the area because of drink specials and the type of person attracted to "cheap"
This behavior spurns sexual assaults, street crime, drug sales of binge drinking. When you sell the cheapest of everything, you get the cheapest behavior.
