In a note published on Facebook, IP says that maintenance teams are on site to carry out repairs in order to restore circulation conditions as quickly as possible.
Fertagus, which operates train traffic on the 25 de Abril Bridge, which connects Lisbon to the South Bank, also indicated on social media that there were significant delays due to signalling failure.
CP - Comboios de Portugal also reported restrictions on rail traffic on Lina de Sintra due to faulty signalling between the Entrecampos and Sete Rios stations.
“Due to a failure in signalling, which is the responsibility of the infrastructure manager, circulation on the Sintra / Cintura Line is subject to significant delays", according to the carrier.
“The Cintura Line constitutes one of the main railway routes in the suburban area of Lisbon, (…) ensuring interconnection with all radial lines ending in the capital, namely the North, Sintra, West, Cascais and South lines”, according to information on the IP website.
It also guarantees connections for long-distance passenger trains, via the 25 de Abril Bridge, as well as freight trains to the Port of Lisbon.
