According to Pinto Luz, when asked about the deadlines for the end of the rehabilitation work on the railway connection between Lisbon and Cascais, in 2026 "the works will be completed" and "the stations [in 20]27/28".

The Cascais Line covers 25.45 kilometres, between Cais do Sodré and Cascais, has 17 stations and stops and the intervention aims to "migrate the electrification system (catenary) from the current 1,500 V DC to 25 kV-50Hz AC, with the construction of a new substation in Sete Rios, allowing integration with the rest of the network, estimating savings of around 50% in energy consumption", according to IP.

"The installation of new signalling, will allow the operator to acquire new trains or to put trains from the rest of the national railway network into circulation, removing obsolete trains (some from 1920) from service", he highlighted.
