"In the regulated market of mainland Portugal, transitional tariffs for sales to end customers in Low Normal Voltage (BTN) present, on average, a variation of 2.1% both in annual and monthly terms", said in a statement, the energy services regulator.
On October 15, ERSE presented its proposal to increase the price of electricity for families in the regulated market by 2.1%.
The proposal was submitted for an opinion by the Tariff Council.
According to ERSE, this monthly variation in the regulated market will represent an increase of between 0.64 euros and 1.60 euros in the monthly bill, without fees and taxes.
Considering these two effects, the monthly bill will be reduced by between €0.85 and €0.91 next year. This drop is due to the legislative change "which increases the value of energy consumption subject to the reduced rate of VAT (Value Added Tax)".
At the end of September 2024, 870,000 customers were in the regulated market.
The final price of electricity in the regulated and liberalised markets (the prices of which vary between suppliers and depend on the contracted offer) includes the value of network access tariffs, which are regulated by ERSE.
Between December of the current year and January 2025, network access tariffs will vary by -3.9% in very high voltage, -7.3% in high voltage, -9.1% in medium voltage, -7.7% at special low voltage and -3.6% at normal low voltage.
Next year, consumers with a social tariff will have a 33.8% discount.
