"The investment strategy in renewable energies, complemented with flexible technologies such as pumped hydro, batteries and gas plants, as well as the strong reduction in coal production, allowed the weight of renewables in EDP's electricity production to increase to a strong pace compared to 74% in 2022 and 87% in 2023, with a decisive contribution to the energy transition", explains the electricity company in a statement sent to the Securities Market Commission (CMVM).

In terms of commercialisation, in the Iberian market, the volume of electricity sold decreased by 9% year-on-year, "mainly reflecting the decrease in volumes sold to business customers. In gas, volumes sold decreased by 10% year-on-year", according to operational data for 2024.
