The president of the association, Vasco Lourenço, told Lusa that there is no change on the part of the association and that the celebrations are confirmed.
“[The parade] is confirmed and everything remains the same on our part”.
Prime Minister Luís Montenegro announced that the government will declare three days of national mourning for the death of Pope Francis, between April 24 and 26, the day of the funeral.
The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, said that the traditional solemn session commemorating April 25th in the Assembly of the Republic is maintained, stating that the idea is "to maintain the session, starting with a vote of condolence for the death of Pope Francis".
Among the various initiatives commemorating the 25th of April 1974 throughout the country, a popular parade is usually held in Lisbon, organised by a promotional committee that brings together dozens of entities, with the Associação 25 de Abril at the forefront.
