Standing out in the market requires more than just offering quality products or services; it demands telling a compelling story. In 2025, Portugal introduces the Short Film Festival for SMEs, an event that challenges small and medium-sized enterprises to reimagine their communication strategies through short, impactful videos.

Led by Leonel António Guerreiro, president of the Setúbal-Lisbon delegation of the Franco-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIFP), this initiative offers an innovative approach to strengthening the identity of SMEs and boosting their international growth.

A New Way to Position SMEs in the Market

The festival's concept is both simple and powerful: each participating company creates a 39-second short film designed for digital formats and social media. Through these videos, businesses not only promote their products and services but also build a strong, emotionally appealing brand identity.

“What we sell is not just a service or a product, but an experience, a story, and a purpose. SMEs need to learn how to tell that story in a captivating and memorable way,” emphasizes Leonel António Guerreiro.

The festival's ceremony will be a night of glamour and networking, where entrepreneurs will walk the red carpet, have their videos showcased, and compete for awards in various categories. For many, this will be an opportunity to boost their digital presence and conquer new markets.

Global Visibility and Growth Opportunities

The festival will take place in several Portuguese cities, including Lisbon, Porto, Braga, Setúbal, and Faro, before expanding to France, Spain, and Belgium. More than just an event, the festival will serve as a growth platform, allowing businesses to enhance their visibility and differentiate themselves from the competition.

“Image sells. Portuguese companies need to move beyond being seen as low-cost suppliers and be recognized for their value, innovation, and identity. The key lies in communication,” states Guerreiro.

To ensure maximum impact, SMEs will have the opportunity to collaborate with digital production students and specialized agencies, forming strategic partnerships that can open doors to new opportunities.

A New Paradigm for Portuguese SMEs

In an increasingly competitive market, the Short Film Festival for SMEs emerges as a movement for business valorization and strategic repositioning. Leonel António Guerreiro challenges entrepreneurs to adopt a new vision:

“What if Portuguese SMEs became the most glamorous in Europe? What if the secret to competitiveness wasn't just price, but the ability to captivate and conquer the market?”

The answer is coming soon, and the revolution in corporate communication starts now.
