The houses in question will begin to be built at the end of next year, according to the president of the APS, Pedro do Ó Ramos, in a report by Jornal de Negócios.
According to the publication, the board of directors of the APS has already requested that the local authority change the detailed plan for the western area of Sines, namely on a plot of land that it owns. The idea is that, once the green light is given, it can receive housing projects.
This land, in fact, was previously intended to be used for commercial and service projects, totalling 6,467 square metres (m2). Pedro do Ó Ramos revealed that the total number of affordable housing units to be built “will be a minimum of 50 and a maximum of 70”, with one- and two-bedroom units.
The housing units in question “will prioritise workers from the port and logistics community of Sines, whether from public authorities, including, but not limited to, inspection activities, or from private entities that are part of this community,” the official explained.
Among the various projects planned for Sines is the MadoquaPower2X (MP2X) project, which aims to produce hydrogen and renewable methanol, and is expected to require an investment of 2.8 billion euros.
