The Provere (Programme for the Economic Development of Endogenous Resources), Water Sports in Central Portugal, Explore: iNature & Centre Geoparks 2030 and Valorisation of Thermal Territories were signed today in Senhora de Assedasse, Gouveia, by the Centro 2030 Management Authority and the leading entities of the three Collective Efficiency Strategies.

“These Action Plans aim to promote cooperation and innovation in each of these strategic areas through the implementation of projects that enhance endogenous resources, strengthen regional identity and contribute to the sustainable development of the territories and communities involved,” said the Centro Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDRC) in a note sent to the Lusa agency.

The Nautical Strategy for Central Portugal will be supported with €1.5 million from Centro 2030 to promote sustainable tourism through the creation of “certified and competitive nautical destinations at national and international level, encouraging entrepreneurship and private investment linked to the sector and promoting sports and contact with nature,” emphasises the CCDRC.

With €2.25 million in support, Provere Explore: iNature & Center Geoparks 2030 is based on the natural heritage existing in Central Portugal from the National Network of Protected Areas, the Natura 2000 Network and the aspiring and already classified UNESCO Geoparks.

“This strategy aims to structure a sustainable model of nature tourism through trails, interpretive centres, local training, scientific experiences and new digital promotion platforms. The project integrates the iNature brand and focuses on the creation of innovative tourist packages.”

Finally, the Valorisation of Thermal Territories will receive €1.5 million in support from Centro 2030 to position the Central Region as “a national and international reference in thermalism”.

To this end, the aim is to “enhance tourist appeal, create tourism products associated with well-being and health, increase the average length of stay of visitors, create thermal routes and encourage research in the area”.

According to Isabel Damasceno, president of CCDR Centro, quoted in the note, “with these three action plans, the approval of the nine action plans for the Economic Enhancement of Endogenous Resources in the Central Region is complete, totalling €19.5 million in European funding”.

“These nine action plans, which mobilise partnerships between public institutions, associations, companies and entities in the scientific and technological system, aim to take advantage of the region’s potential, boosting economic activity and enhancing the attractiveness of the territories,” she emphasises.
