Organised by Lagos City Council in partnership with ACRAL, the contest invites participants to either recreate historic swimwear or reimagine it with a modern twist. These two sides, tradition and community and fashion and innovation, form the basis of a lively competition that has become a highlight of the summer’s longest nights.
Approved at the most recent council meeting, the competition rules include cash prizes for the top three entries in each category. The catwalks will take place at Jardim da Constituição and Cais da Solaria, as part of the Banho 49 celebrations. The wider programme also features historical reenactments, food and drinks, and live entertainment, with singer Rebeca headlining this year’s festivities.
Registration is now open.
