Through social media, the Prime Minister reacted to the tariff agreement between the European Union (EU) and the United States, reached on Sunday, which sets US customs tariffs on European products at 15%.

"The EU-US trade agreement brings predictability and stability, vital for Portuguese companies and the economy," the Prime Minister emphasized.

Considering that this agreement "avoids escalation," Luís Montenegro emphasized that the agreement "places new demands on the fight for more trade agreements, the elimination of barriers, and the transformative agenda of simplification and cost reduction."

The agreement also provides for the EU's commitment to purchase US$750 billion (approximately €642 billion) of US energy, aimed primarily at replacing Russian gas, the investment of an additional US$600 billion (€514 billion), and an increase in military procurement.

The US and EU countries exchange approximately €4.4 billion in goods and services daily.
