Completion of these hotels is projected for 2028, with 60% of the new tourism developments in the high-end and luxury range.

According to the same data, cited by Publituris, half of these new constructions will be concentrated in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area.

Growing Trend

The construction of new hotels in Portugal supports the trend of increasing interest in tourist accommodation in the country. For example, 83 new hotels were inaugurated in 2025, translating into 4,080 new beds in Portugal.

Although 2025 was the year with the fewest inaugurations of tourist accommodations, luxury establishments accounted for about a third of the new constructions, as reported by the same media outlet. Overnight stays in five-star hotels also increased by 5% in 2025.

In total, €480 million was invested in the hotel sector in Portugal in 2025.
