In total, the growth indicated is 3%, consolidating the increase in tourist demand in Portugal.

Overnight stays in Portugal also reached a record number (82.1 million), up 2% from the same period the previous year.

The domestic market grew the most in Portugal, increasing by 5% compared to the same period last year. Although the international market remains the main driver of tourism in the country, accounting for 69% of overnight stays, in 2025, it grew by only 1%.

Geographical diversification

The growth of tourism in Portugal has been homogeneous; that is, it affects different regions of the country. Regions that were previously less sought after by tourists, such as the Alentejo, the North, and even the Setúbal Peninsula, have seen their tourism markets grow, leading to more sustainable development of the sector.

However, more established destinations, such as the Algarve, are reducing their seasonality, demonstrating the resilience of tourism in Portugal, which has become more diversified.
