“The objective is the requalification of the existing buildings, both interior and exterior, without alterations or extensions, seeking above all to improve energy performance by at least 10%. To this end, the respective interventions will be carried out (interior and exterior of the buildings), as well as the integration of essential equipment that guarantees adequate comfort conditions for dignified housing,” the Councillor for Culture and Citizenship, Social Development, Health and Housing, Liliana Delgado, told the Lusa news agency.
The project includes the refurbishment of 16 housing units, with the replacement of windows and doors, wall coverings, interior flooring, sanitary equipment, kitchen cabinets, gas water heaters with storage water heaters, as well as the application of thermal insulation to exterior walls, installation of false ceilings inside, adaptation of water supply and sanitation networks, and new electrical, ventilation, and smoke extraction systems.
Once started, the project has a one-year execution period.
The municipality of the Lisbon district intends to launch this year the project to refurbish the Moita dos Ferreiros social housing neighbourhood, the last remaining one in the strategy.
The estimated budget for the 19 housing units in the Moita dos Ferreiros neighbourhood is €1.3 million.
These works are similar to those planned for the Areia Branca social housing neighbourhood and are intended to promote the requalification of buildings and energy efficiency with a view to improving living conditions.
The project is part of the municipal strategy for the rehabilitation of social housing stock, initiated in 2020.
“This investment aims to improve living conditions, enhance the energy efficiency of buildings, and ensure greater comfort and dignity for resident families,” the mayor emphasised.
By 2022, the social housing neighbourhoods of Atalaia, Casal Novo, Moledo, Miragaia, São Bartolomeu dos Galegos, and Reguengo Grande had been renovated.
