"The available homes, under an affordable rental scheme, cover T1 to T5 typologies and are located in 25 municipalities across the country: Águeda, Aveiro, Baião, Barcelos, Cartaxo, Cascais, Cinfães, Coimbra, Entroncamento, Évora, Figueira da Foz, Lisbon, Mação, Machico (Madeira), Nelas, Oeiras, Paços de Ferreira, Penafiel, Peniche, Portel, Porto, Sátão, Setúbal, Sines and Vila Real," the IHRU informed in a released statement.
Housing will be allocated under the Rental Support Program (PAA), and the application period began 12 May and runs until 22 May, according to IHRU, which stated that individuals or households that meet the eligibility criteria can apply, including having a total income below the maximum defined value, and the conditions established in the competition notices.
"To apply, it is necessary to first obtain the Application Registration Certificate on the PAA Platform, on the Housing Portal, by filling in the household data and attaching the required documentation. Then, they must submit the application through the IHRU Arrenda Platform," it added.
Of the 68 houses put out to tender, according to IHRU, 48 were rehabilitated with funding from the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) and the European Union (NextGenerationEU), for an investment of €2.4 million.
Created in 2019, the PAA promotes the supply of rental housing at below-market prices, with stability and security, enabling owners to place properties on the market at reduced prices in exchange for an exemption from IRS or IRC on the rents.
