The journey is set to take passengers along the scenic Douro Line between Régua and Tua, with services running on Saturdays, Sundays and selected Wednesdays throughout the season.
This experience begins at Régua station at 3pm, with live music, a welcome drink featuring Port wine, and onboard entertainment throughout the journey along the Douro Valley.
The itinerary includes stops at Pinhão and Tua, where travellers can meet local producers, sample and purchase regional products, as well as visit cultural attractions such as the Vale do Tua Interpretive Centre. The departure is scheduled for 5.07pm, arriving back in Régua at 6.22pm.
According to CP, the 2026 edition of this initiative reinforces the collaboration with local entities and authorities, positioning the historic train as a driver of economic and tourism development in the Douro region. “This commitment is reflected not only in the presence of local producers at the stations, but also in the integration of the railway experience into a broader tourism offer that highlights the Alto Douro Wine Region, Pinhão station and the Tua Valley”, the company explained.
The train is powered by a restored Series 1400 diesel locomotive in its original colours and consists of five historic carriages dating from the early 20th century, with a total capacity of 254 seated passengers.
“Over the course of around three hours, passengers travel back in time against the backdrop of a UNESCO World Heritage landscape, enjoying a unique experience that combines railway heritage, cultural entertainment and direct contact with the Douro region”, CP added.
Tickets cost €60 for adults and €32 for children between the ages of four and 12, with special rates available for groups, and can be purchased at CP ticket offices as well as online.
