In the rural landscapes of Porches, in the heart of the Algarve, it's still possible to find traditional scenes that have been part of the region's identity for generations. Among open fields and tranquil paths, flocks of sheep continue to graze freely, accompanied by faithful sheepdogs responsible for guiding, protecting, and keeping the animals together along the way. Although many visitors know the Algarve only for its beaches and tourism, the region's interior holds a more authentic side, linked to agriculture, livestock farming, and the simplicity of rural life.
In this video, one of the sheepdogs starred in an unexpected and special scene. While the flock calmly followed the path, the dog approached the camera, stopped right in front of it, sat for a few seconds as if it knew it was being filmed, and calmly observed everything. Soon after, it got up and continued following the sheep across the field. Small moments like this show the beauty of the Algarve's rural routine and the strong connection between animals, nature, and traditional work that still persists in southern Portugal.
