The ministry and the border agency both confirmed that the citizen “got through” security at Lisbon airport on Tuesday.

“This was an attempt at illegal immigration and all the necessary mechanisms have been put in place”, the ministry said.

This is not the first time North African nationals have tried to get into Europe via Lisbon. In the last attempt two Algerian citizens tried to escape by running across the runway and forced the airport to shut down for about an hour.
