ANA chairman, Thierry Ligonnière, told parliament that the “definitive closure” was a state decision, but a report from Eurocontrol said the airport would be at the same or better safety level with the runway closed. Ligonnière said the closure would allow for more parking places and a further extension to Terminal 1.
