António Costa, who answered questions from the PCP's secretary general, Jerónimo de Sousa, in the fortnightly debate, in the Assembly of the Republic, said that the Government has “a path” from which it will not “step aside”.

“You need to be aware that this crisis cannot be resolved with austerity responses. What we have done is aimed at keeping companies, jobs and workers' income alive. We have to avoid adding crisis to the crisis,” he said.

And he added that “the priority” is to maintain the income of workers and the companies that support them.

"This will be our way, we will not go away from here", said the head of the Government.
