A ceremony was held on Sunday night for the official opening of the Pestana CR7 Lisboa, which was created through collaboration with national hotel group Pestana.
It is the second CR7 hotel to be launched following the first unit in the footballer’s homeland, on the island of Madeira, in July.
The new unit is located in the Baixa, Lisbon’s historic downtown area, and had officially opened on 16 August with 82 guest rooms and a decor relating to the footballer.
The partners plan to open another two units next year: in Madrid, where Ronaldo plays for local football club Real, and in New York.
In total, the four hotels are to have some 500 rooms. The projected total investment is €75 million.
José Roquette, the Pestana’s director for business development, told Lusa News Agency that the group is looking at “some projects” in other major cities in Europe, but declined to give further details of what he said were “confidential processes”.
The partnership is a 50-50 joint venture, but with the Pestana group overseeing operations.
