He explained that easyJet had not managed to enter that market “with the minimum supply of quality”.
“We are not withdrawing from Ponta Delgada because the traffic is falling, it is growing, but in our situation, we cannot have the quality we want, which was at least two flights a day.”
Shortly after the news, rival low-cost airline launched flights at €28.99 to assist passengers “affected by the decision by easyJet to cancel flights to Ponta Delgado in October.”
However, the sale ended on Wednesday, with Ryanair spokesperson Barbara Casanova saying on Monday in a statement sent to The Portugal News: “We recommend that travellers book as soon as possible as these tariffs will disappear soon – much like easyJet’s route to Ponta Delgada.”
