"CP – Comboios de Portugal is expected to end the year 2024 with more than 185 million passengers transported, an increase that is estimated to exceed 12.8 million compared to the previous year".

The numbers are still "provisional for the last two months of the year", but for the company, they already "reflect the continuous and sustained growth in demand for CP's services".

"If, in previous years, growth was particularly evident in urban services, in 2024 the increase in passengers was transversal to all of the company's commercial services", points out the company chaired by Pedro Moreira.

According to the carrier, "urban, regional, interregional and long-distance services have all seen increased demand, which confirms the attractiveness of the train as a reliable, sustainable and affordable transport solution."

Quoted in the statement, the company's president highlights that the "increase in passengers on all CP services demonstrates that the train is increasingly the natural choice of the Portuguese, not only in large urban areas but also on regional and long-distance connections”.

"It is a recognition of the efficiency of the railway as a means of sustainable transport", says Pedro Moreira, highlighting that "these numbers are only possible thanks to the commitment, dedication and professionalism" of the workers.

For the president of CP, "these data prove that the Portuguese increasingly value and prioritise sustainable mobility", considering that "the train is the ideal solution to respond to this challenge, contributing to the reduction of the ecological footprint and mobility more inclusive and efficient throughout the national territory".
