In the Council of Ministers, the executive also decided "exceptional financial support for self-employed workers who have to stay at home to accompany their children up to 12 years old, in the amount of one third of the average remuneration".

These are two of the measures to support the social protection of workers and families in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, approved in the Council of Ministers.

The briefing of the Council of Ministers started already close to 1am - a meeting of the executive that was interrupted at the end of Thursday morning so that the Prime Minister, António Costa, could meet with all parties with parliamentary seat -, having announced the measures adopted by the Government to deal with the new coronavirus.
