Speaking after the EU head of state and government summit, the prime minister said that the “long meeting” begun on Thursday was “rather bitter-sweet” where the sweet part was the adoption of the strategic agenda for the Union for 2019-2024 and the support given to Eurogrupo to conclude the work on a budget for the euro area.

However, the acknowledged that the discussion by the 28 on the names to lead the European institutions for the next five years was the bitter part of the works, regretting the delay in the decisions and the uncertainty, until another extraordinary summit on 30 June.
