The 22-year-old is understood to have stolen dozens of mobile phones throughout the Albuferia area using the same procedure.
He was caught red-handed on Sunday night by GNR officers at a snack bar in Montechoro.
The man walked with a limp and gave out promotional flyers while swiping phones left unattended by their owners.
