Hospitality industry expects losses in the billions

The Portuguese Hospitality Association (AHP) has said that it estimates revenue losses of between €3.2 and €3.6 billion this year, as well as 24.8 to 46.4 million less overnight stays.

The figures were advanced by the executive president of AHP, Cristina Siza Vieira, during the presentation of the third phase of the survey “Impact of the Covid-19 pandemic in the Hotel Industry”, carried out between 15 and 29 May with their associates.

“We have no doubt that for the hotel industry it will be a lost year”, admitted the official.

“It does not mean, however, that there are no reservations and that there is no movement during this summer, but do not be fooled: we will not have anything this summer that will make us think of an effective recovery.” she added.
