As for year-on-year underyling inflation (excluding unprocessed and food and energy) the INE estimates this at 1.0% in July, the same as in June.

Energy inflation accelerated in July, it noted, to a year-on-year rate of 7.8%.

Consumer prices in July were up 0.6% on June, when they had risen 0.1%.

As for the harmonised consumer price index (HICP), which is used to compare Portugal's statistics with those of other European Union countries, the INE estimates a year-on-year rate of 2.2% in July, against 2.0% in June.

Final price data for July is to be released on 10 August.
