Frederico Morais secured the Olympic spot for Portugal by coming out of the World Championships in Miyazaki, Japan, as the best European, taking seventh place, but admitted that he wanted to go even further in the competition.

“I finished in seventh place, of course I wanted more, a person always wants more, but the truth is that my I have achieved my goal, which was the Olympic place, and now I have to start working for 2020”.

As two important championships of the qualifying circuit [WQS] approach, both taking place in Portuguese waters, (the Azores Airlines Pro, 6,000 points, and EDP Billabong Pro Ericeira, 10,000 points), the focus of the Portuguese surfer is to get the best possible results in these “home” events as he works for the points needed to qualify for the world circuit [WCT], where he competed in 2017 and 2018.

“I will continue to focus on the WQS and hopefully return to the WCT as well. It is my dream as much as the Olympic Games were and now I have already achieved one of these goals I will continue to work on the other,” he said.
