The case was announced yesterday in Olhão.
The patient in question is said to have contracted the disease during a party "outside the Algarve", to where she travelled with four other "young adults" from Olhão.
According to reports the group of five attended a party in the Greater Lisbon area
She'll get over it, like most people.... Stop the fear mongering, time to rebuild the economy.

but with respect while she's getting over it she may infect others who don't recover. This article didn't frighten me as much as the cavalier approach appearing to be taken by some to the health of all.

Fred clearly doesn't understand pandemics. Probably the woman from Olhao will get over it - but she possibly will die from it as some people do. But that is not the main point. In a pandemic people who catch it then give it to others, and they in turn give it to others, and some of those people do die.
The important thing to consider in a pandemic is how to safe guard others - not simply to be selfish and only worry about yourself - or in this case to be callous about one other individual who had caught it.

Fed up with busy bodies scare mongering more people in the world dying from cancer! No one seems too have the count for how many have flu right now or chicken pox extra! Forget numbers! This is what is scare mongering because you've never seen numbers of deaths In your lives!
This disease is going no where we have to live with it. 80% of people wont ever know they had it! STOP DOING THIS BLOODY BUSY BODIES

Most people still don't understand that, when they downplay the severity of this illness, they are not taking into account one simple premise: that you can keep the mortality low *if* you have a very good system of supporting medicine at your disposal (machines, specialized physicians and an organisation to match), and we *don't* have that here.
I live in the fabled outskirts of Lisbon, and I see how the situation is rapidly degrading here, and if this is allowed to spread to the rest of the country, it will be dire. Remember that, while it's the virus that causes the disease, it's individual behaviour (and social conditions) that fuels pandemics.

My wife and I are so proud of how Portugal has handled this situation compared to our mother lands ( UK/Holland /Belgium).
What dissapoints us the most is the youngsters and the new influx of tourists attitude towards mask wearing. I fear we may see a second wave hit the algarve in July, wasting a winters worth of work and financial suffering.

Over 99% of the population will recover, unfortunately only a small minority will pass away from it! I think the Portuguese NHS should have enough ventilators to deal with the less of 1% of the population. You can’t lock down 99% of the population and destroy the economy in order to keep safe the less of 1% that would die from seriously pre existing causes! It’s time to start getting back to normality!
