This comes after the Madeira-based bank saw thousands of customers withdraw cash from the bank after news emerged that it could be divided into a good and a bad bank as happened with BES bank last year.


There were also reports of people being mugged upon leaving Banif branches, with numerous people, many of them elderly, closing accounts containing considerable sums of money.
