She said an overall growth of 11.5 percent has allowed for the creation of 40,000 jobs this year.

Speaking during a parliamentary hearing, Mendes Godinho recalled that between 2005 and 2015 flights and passengers to and from this country have doubled, as has the availability of hotel accommodation.

She added that 230 new tourist projects are currently being developed with companies receiving funding of around €34 million for the investment.
