Portugal, which climbed 15 places on last year’s rankings, is placed behind Indonesia and Thailand in what are their biggest travel awards ever since they were first held in 1998.
The travel magazine says it had more than 600,000 registered voters participate in the ballot, with the only other European destinations in the top ten are Greece, placed seventh, and Italy, which is ranked ninth.
