Spanish news agency Efe reported the body was found in the pool of the villa in Sot de Chera, Valencia, on 10 August.
It cited sources close to case who said the victim, identified as P.P.B.A, was the owner of the property, which he rented out via the internet for around €25 a day and was used for events.
An investigation was launched into the death, which became an international police operation and culminated in a 23-year-old Portuguese man, identified as A.F.G.B, being detained in the Maia area of Porto, and a 26-year-old Brazilian man (A.A.W) being detained at Lisbon
airport.
A report by the Spanish Guardia Civil about operation ‘SOT 116’,said the suspects were identified “within a few weeks” despite both individuals having managed to flee Spain, triggering the international operation.
The victim’s body reportedly showed signs of having suffered violence, with hands and feet tied and bound to a bag of rocks, and was submersed in the pool.
Efe said the body was found by two women, in an advanced state of decomposition.
