"The third phase of the migration of the network of DTT broadcasters [digital terrestrial television] begins with the change of the emitter of Cheleiros, in Sintra, and ends on 21 April, with the emitter of Piódão", said the Autoridade Nacional de Comunicações (Anacom) in a statement.

"Until 10 March, the process takes place simultaneously with the change of the transmitters in phase 2", they said, adding that some transmitters in the district of Setúbal have already been changed in phase 2.

Anacom said that "not all DTT users will be covered in this process", stressing that "people will know that they are covered by the change if their television goes without image".

On 6 March the Vila Franca de Xira DTT transmitters will be tuned in and, three days later, the same thing will be done in Olivais and Montegordo (Vila Franca de Xira).

On 10 March, it is going to happen in Alverca, Janas and Lisboa (Xabregas), and one day later it will be Arruda dos Vinhos, Monsanto and Restelo (Lisbon) and Malveira.

Coruche and the areas of Benfica and Castelo (Lisbon) and Torres Novas - Trancão will see their transmitters re-tuned on 12 March.

The migration of the DTT track in Cascais is scheduled for 18 March, Sintra for 20 March and Peniche for 25 March.

Fátima and Alcobaça should be resonated on 1 April, Coimbra starts on 6 April and Arganil on 20 April.

This third phase will be completed on 21 April, with the migration of frequencies in Alvôco das Várzeas and Piódão.

The allocation of the fifth generation (5G) licenses will be made through auction, and they will be allocated until the middle of this year.
