The yellow weather warning for the 18 districts on the mainland will be in effect until 12:00 on Wednesday.

According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), the yellow weather warning is issued whenever there is a risk for certain activities depending on the weather.

IPMA predicts “a lot of instability” until Thursday, with “strong local rain storms”, particularly in Leiria, Lisbon and Setúbal.

According to the IPMA, “heavy rainfall is expected locally, with significant impacts, particularly in urban areas, where there is a risk of flash flooding".

The IPMA forecasts for today generally cloudy skies with rain showers accompanied by thunder, hail and gusts of strong wind, decreasing in frequency by the end of the afternoon.

Minimum temperatures will fluctuate between 13 degrees Celsius (in Guarda) and 19 (in Aveiro) and maximums between 21 (in Bragança and Portalegre) and 26 (in Aveiro).
