Running until 12 September, 744 publishing brands will be represented at the 91st Lisbon Book Fair, with the debut of 12 new participants, according to the Portuguese Association of Publishers and Booksellers (APEL), which organises it with the support of the County.

The fair is set up, as usual, in Parque Eduardo VII, and this edition is the second largest in the history of the fair in pavilions and the largest ever in the editorial offer, according to APEL. Today's opening is attended by the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, as in previous years.

The organisation "ensures all the necessary security measures to respond to the pandemic, in order to protect the health of exhibitors and visitors", requiring the use of a mask to access the premises and maintaining the distance between people, in addition to recommend pre-registration for events such as book presentations, launches and lectures.

The numbers of this year's fair are only surpassed by the 2019 edition, a year in which there were 328 pavilions and presented with more green spaces, more sustainable and inclusive, with 25 new participants, 32 new pavilions and 10 new editorial brands.

As for this year's edition, editors are confident of an increase in the number of visitors and sales, due to the improvement in the pandemic situation and the easing of restrictive measures.

The Lisbon Book Fair will be open from Monday to Thursday between 12:30 and 10:00 pm, on Fridays between 12:30 and 00:00, on Saturdays between 11:00 and 00:00, and on Sundays between 11:00 am and 10:00 pm.
