"Nomad Homes operates in Paris and Dubai and will use the new financing to accelerate its expansion across the EMEA region, specifically in southern Europe, including Portugal and Spain," reads a statement from the company.
Protech, founded by Helen Chen, Dan Piehler and Damien Drap, was launched in 2020 in the midst of the pandemic, and according to the company, its transaction volume grew by more than 16 times during the first six months of 2021. It uses technology to "give buyers the confidence to find and buy their ideal home", which translates into a "simpler and more personalised" purchasing process, from research to financing and contract signing.
“We have established the mission to simplify the most important personal and financial decision of your life. We believe that the combination of technology and a personalised consumer experience empowers our customers to purchase their home with utmost confidence”, said Chen, CEO of Nomad.
The company will use the new financing to accelerate its expansion across the EMEA region, but will also continue to invest “heavily” in its technology and in offering additional products and services to provide a “one stop shop” for all issues relating to property. “We are particularly excited to continue to invest in new fintech products and pricing tools to further streamline the buying journey for our customers,” said Piehler, CPO at Nomad.
The "missionary" phrasing of this advertisement inevitably leads one to believe that the Nomads are a poor but potentially rich relation of the Air BnB predator of the European property market.

More corruption and morons entering Portugal hoping to make a fast buck
By J from Lisbon on 09 Oct 2021, 14:27
Poor common people! How can you afford it? The excellent life style available in Lisbon and elsewhere in the touristic Portugal is within reach of only a few, the very rich, or those foreigners who can buy it because they were borne rotten rich or during their active life have been enjoying salaries 4 times and up those of the "miserable" or "average" Portuguese who continuously struggles to survive! Just look at the spiriling prices in Lisbon and elsewhere throughout the so-called touristic areas! Only the fortunate ones can afford them! That's one of the reasons why the number of native Portuguese is shrinking in their own land and now should be, very appropriately, classified as "an endangered species" in fast disappearing country!

Maybe they should start by charging say 0.5% commission, rather than the 5% or 6% charged by the greedy thieves here.
The commission rates like all other costs in Portugal is an outrage. All they do is stick a couple of ads which cost very little and then turn and and point to a kitchen and say "here is the kitchen."
Come on you greedy people, slash you rates or I will set up an agency that wipes you all out.

Hi Tony. You are so right. I'm Portuguese and live in Lisbon. This Government only interested in Golden Visa Morons to line their own corupt pockets Hence the high prices and false statement saying Portugal is the best place in the world to live Not for the Portuguese. We are classed sec rate citizens.

Soulless wealth plunderers:... deliberately posing with their wrist watches costing at least 3 or 4+ months rent of a small bedroom in a shared old apartment in Portugal.

We nomads don't need homes... Me move around.
By Fred Doe from Algarve on 10 Oct 2021, 21:09
Fred, most residents in the Algarve must move around if they don't own their own property as rentals are only for 5-6 months. It is a constant musical chairs scenario. which brings no real wealth to the region.

Hi
All these pseudo "entrepreneurs" coming from these rich countries and destroying my people with their real estate business... Portuguese people are forced to move out from their cities so that these guys can make money on their back... and young locals cannot even afford a single room to study or start their prof life....
It is so disgusting what Lisbon is being turned to by these neo colonialist...

I'm really tired of seeing foreigners taking advantage of Portugal and its real estate. Who are these leeches that are so "excited" to expand to southern Europe and why are they allowed to do so?
