This measure results from the signing of a protocol between the Municipality of Sintra and the Associação de Praias do Concelho de Sintra, “representing an amount of €90,000”, so that beach concessionaires maintain “all the assistance for bathers, with the presence of lifeguards who are essential for the safety and protection of users”.
“As in previous years”, this measure allows for the increase in the space available on the beaches, “providing a greater number of users with free access to the beaches without any type of payment”, according to information from the city council.
“It is a very relevant gesture and of great solidarity [...]. This concession by the concessionaires makes it possible to increase the available space on the beach and, consequently, ensure that more people can enjoy our beaches with the appropriate safety distances”, said Basilio Horta, quoted in a statement.
