“In 2021, the Portuguese real estate market proved to be strong and Remax was an example of this vitality, achieving its best year ever in areas such as turnover, number of transactions, available properties, number of consultants and active agencies. The data also show that the last quarter of the year, as well as the month of December, were the best ever in all the years of operation of the brand in the national Portuguese market, a very favourable trajectory and that opens up good prospects for 2022”.
National market
According to the real estate company, most of the business of buying and selling houses or leasing continues to be done by Portuguese people. National investors were responsible for 82.1 percent of Remax transactions in 2021, with the districts of Lisbon, Porto and Setúbal being the most active.
Regarding the weight of international customers, business was established in 2021 with citizens of 106 foreign nationalities, with Brazilians, responsible for 5.5 percent of the company's total volume of transactions. They are followed by the French, 1.2 percent, English, 1.1 percent, Angolans, 1.1 percent and North Americans, 1 percent.
By region, Lisbon and Porto account for more than half of the total volume of transactions: 32,548 in the capital and 11,166 in Porto, representing 40.6 percent and 13.9 percent of the total respectively.
According to Remax data, apartments and villas were the types of properties most sold in 2021, with 62.2 percent and 21.4 percent of the total respectively. “The most sought after apartments sold continue to be T2 apartments with 45.1 percent of the total, followed by T3 with 31.7 percent, T1 16.8 percent and T4 4.1 percent.
