Comboios de Portugal (CP) complaints increased by 66%
between 1 January and 29 November 2022, compared to the same period last year,
according to Portal da Queixa.
Train delays and cancellations account for 41% of all
complaints, while a lack of information accounts for 24%. Problems with buying
tickets online (16%) and poor conditions (15%) follow in the list of main
complaints from consumers.
"Between January 1 and November 29 of this year,
consumers registered 281 complaints addressed to CP, which means a 66% growth
in the number of complaints, compared to the same period of 2021, when there
were only 169 complaints".
The problems with the rail service in Portugal are many and varied. There are some excellent things about CP, such as the cost for travel and the excellent service on the Alpha Pendular, but these are eclipsed by the atrocious state of the trains, the stations, and the woeful disregard for the disabled and seniors; getting to platforms in Lisbon, and actually getting on and off the trains, are clearly designed to make it as hard as possible for us. There is a lot that needs to be done. A lot!!!

Portuguese train system is abysmal compared for instance to Spanish and Italian ones. Évora doesn't have a train connection to Lisbon from mid-day to five pm. It's better to use flixbus. Trains are old as are the stations. People don't complain enough.
