According to the data, on the last day of February and compared to the last day of the previous month, there was a decrease in nine and an increase in the volume stored in three hydrographic basins.

The Barlavento Algarve basin, with 13.1%, had at the end of February the lowest amount of stored water.

The average storage for the month of February in the Barlavento basin is 73.8%, according to SNIRH.

With less water availability were also the Mira (36.8%), Arade (41.5%), and Sado (58.9%) basins.

The Guadiana (85.8%), Tagus (85.7%), Douro (80.7%), Oeste (80.2%), Cávado and Lima (78.1%), Mondego (66. 5%) and Ave (64.7%) had the highest levels.


The February 2023 storages by river basin are higher than the February storage averages (1990/91 to 2021/22), except for the Ave, Mondego, Sado, Mira, Ribeiras do Algarve, and Arade basins

Each hydrographic basin can correspond to more than one reservoir.
