John Rodgerson, CEO of the airline, reveals in the Publituris interview that Azul is already the largest carrier in Brazil and is committed to also expanding its network in Europe to balance the operation with the US.
In an interview with Publituris, he talks about the importance of the Portuguese market and the Lisbon route, where Azul has two daily flights, but which can be reinforced in the summer, taking into account the high demand, as tourists Brazilians look to the Portuguese capital as “the new Miami”, which everyone wants to visit.
More difficult seems to be the return to Porto, where the carrier flew before the pandemic, with John Rodgerson revealing that Azul is satisfied with the partnership it maintains with TAP and that, therefore, it prefers to concentrate the operation in the Portuguese capital.
Is this a joke???????. Only for Yanks .

The new Miami, in what sense, I worked and lived in Miami for many years and I can't see the connection, the only similarities is the number of old people in the Algarve beaches, that's the similarity, and the fact that not many people in Miami speak English, full of old people and Hispanics, except for the summer and spring break that turns the place into a drinking festival, what else is there, and the fact that people are moving out in droves because the hurricanes are flattening the place, not a good comparison choice I think.

Compare Lisbon to Miami is just so ridiculous! Lisbon is an ancient European capital with so much history.

He meant the new Miami in terms of demand and popularity among Brazilians. Traditionally, Miami has been, out of South America (where Buenos Aires and Santiago are Brazilian tourists' favorites), the city with the most flights from Brazil and the most popular vacation destination for Brazilians who want to travel abroad. For the first time in years, another city has challenged Miami's supremacy - Lisbon. Nowadays, it's common to see more and more Brazilians dreaming about visiting Portugal's capital.

Please, please stop the embarrassingly inaccurate comparisons between beautiful, charming, history rich city capital city of Lisbon to crass hurricane and drug route rich retirement village of Miami. Enough is enough. You do have a publisher and editor to choose what to publish.

Believe me, Lisbon does NOT want be the "new" Miami. Miami is devoid of any heritage and culture, (apart from a drunken culture), and is permanently over-congested and swamped by cheap university students on "Spring Break".
If that's what the CEO of some airline thinks, tell him to take his flights somewhere else.
Let's preserve some class for Lisbon.
