According to Notícias ao Minuto, an expert from the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) explained that tornadoes "are quite rare" in Portugal. However, there are "convective factors" that "indicate some probability" that this could happen in certain regions of the country this afternoon.
In the words of the specialist, there are today "some ingredients" that favour the appearance of phenomena of this nature, highlighting the existence of "wind with some rotation", as is forecast for this afternoon.
In addition, "the conditions are also in place" for the occurrence of "gusts of wind and heavy showers", as well as for hail and thunderstorms. The specialist noted, however, that these more extreme meteorological phenomena are expected, essentially, in the regions of the Interior and the North Coast.
Blame it on the invasion of Portugal by Americans.

@Diogo F What kind of stupidity is that? Think before you speak.

@Diogo F, you are an idiot.

@diego, I'm an American invader and I brought tornados and loads of cash to prop up your economy that's based on tourism!!

Diogo F; I've been reading your posts for over a year now and you appear to have an incredibly negative outlook on everything. That statement about the Americans is pretty close to a racist rant about the good people who have boosted your economy when you were a poor country years ago. We are all equal whether you feel superior or just threatened by change. You failed to comment on the Brazilians, Brits and Euro countries that have integrated as well; a bit narrow minded (being kind here lol.) Open your heart brother and treat people the same way YOU would like to be treated. Seek some professional help and turn your attitude around or you'll pass on as a miserable human being and from your posts, some knowledgeable I believe you're too smart for that. Climate disruption is happening around the world; even the Orca's are attacking sailboats there right because they are confused and angry at what we've done to the oceans AND they are very intelligent, travel in packs and DO hold a grudge scientists have recently discovered judging from over 70 attacks in Spain & Portugal. Tornados, water spouts add to the confusion and this will become more common as the earth warms.

Off you meds there Diogo?

Diogo also believes that cash should be abolished, all our money should go to the Ukraine war, nobody should own a car, higher taxes can change the climate, and the 6th vax is necessary, because the first 5 worked so well. So his comment is right on brand.

Wesley, Portugal is still a poor country... dire poverty, though perhaps not so visible where wealthy expats live. It needn't be so poor and backwards but that is how the socialists want it to remain.
