Last year, 360 Portuguese entered Iceland, which represents 2.3 percent of the total number of foreigners entering the country: 15,438.
“After the slight increase in the number of Portuguese arrivals in Iceland in 2021, in 2022 emigration to this country increases again, with the entry of 360 Portuguese, which corresponds to an increase of 76.5 percent compared to 2021”, reads the note from the Emigration Observatory.
Between 2000 and 2022, the lowest number of Portuguese entries to Iceland was recorded in 2002 (seven entries) and the highest in 2004 (520 entries).
In 2004, Portuguese emigration accounted for around one-fifth of foreigners entering the country.
