"With 25.8 hours a week, Germany is the country with the lowest average number of hours worked per week in 2022", says Pordata, in a publication shared on social networks.
Denmark and the Netherlands follow with the lowest number of hours, with 26.4 and 27.4, respectively.
On the other hand, Poland has the highest number of hours worked, followed by Greece, with 38.3 and 36.2 hours, also in order.
And in Portugal?
In Portugal, an average of 34.5 hours per week were worked in 2022, which puts the country in 10th place, according to the data. Comparing with 1995, this number has dropped, since in that year the average hours reached 36.5 hours.
The average working hour in hospitality sector is 50-60 per week. Which is almost never counted or visible as 40 hour is written in job contract. Working two shifts a day is almost like modern slavery in Portugal. The data could be corrected slowly if per hour wage system is applied rather than per month.
