The word ‘nurture’ may conjure up visions of us wafting around on a spa break or going on a retreat, but it doesn’t have to be like that! Many people’s circumstances don’t allow for luxuries or extras, which is why we need to find other ways to feed our soul and lift our spirit…

Nurturing ourselves can be as simple as:

· Having a long, relaxing bath with a nice bubble bath.

· Dancing along to your favourite song on the radio.

· Spending 10 minutes to sit down with a book or magazine.

· Getting out into nature, even a 10-minute walk in the park will enable you to reset.

· Looking up at the stars is a wonderful way to feel grounded and nurtured.

Our life is too precious to just go through the motions of living, we need to give ourselves permission to enjoy it!

You may feel that you spend your time giving support and energy to others and feeling depleted in yourself. This is always a tricky situation to be in, and it can lead to feelings of isolation and resentment. In my experience, the way through this is to start with ourselves.

If we learn to love and nurture ourselves, then we will put out nurturing vibes, which in turn attract nurturing back to us. Energy is like a magnet, whatever we put out into the universe, attracts the same energy back. So, if we practise self-care and nurture ourselves, that’s what we’ll receive in return!

I know that some of you reading this are yet to be convinced! Well, I used to be sceptical too, until I started fitting in some time for myself about 8 years ago. In my case, I started attending a weekly yoga/gong bath session. Once I got over the novelty of taking time out for myself and started to feel the benefits, more opportunities for relaxation came my way, such as a friend offering to take my son out for the day to give me a break or a girlfriend inviting me out for afternoon tea. These opportunities have continued to increase and life has got easier.

Crystals for Nurturing:

Kunzite is a pale pink stone which connects us to pure love. It enables you to hear messages from your heart and connect in a heart-based way to others.

Rose Quartz works on your heart chakra. When it opens and heals your heart, it guides you towards loving yourself as well as showing compassion to those around you.

Affirmation: I will nurture and care for myself like I do for others.

How will you incorporate self-care into your life?
