EDITOR, I am writing to you today to share my opinion on the food reviews in the newspaper.

ALL of these reviews seem to be very biased toward the vegan community and I feel they reflect very unfairly on the restaurants mentioned.

This “blogger” will happily go to a meat restaurant and give them a low rating due to being a vegan in a place which is clearly aimed toward people who eat meat.

I feel this is very unfair and not a nice thing to do. I also feel that this so called “food blogger” Peter Cruiming, needs to widen his price range (as all reviews seem to be aimed at wealthy expats), and his incredibly boring pallet to suit people of all lifestyles and stop being so obviously pretentious.

Every single review is about a salad or a soup in a Michelin-star restaurant and quite frankly it’s the most boring part of the paper without any shadow of a doubt.

I am sure I’m not just speaking for myself when I say I’m tired of reading how good mushrooms and pasta with tomato sauce is.

How can someone be a food blogger if they are not physically capable of reviewing all aspects of the menu!

Septic Tank Cleaning

EDITOR, I went to the “loja de freguesia” in Almancil (Loulé council, Algarve) to book their septic tank cleaning service. I was told that there was a FOURTEEN month wait for their service and also their charge has increased from 60 Euros to 120 Euros!!! What is going on? Why is it taking so long for the council to offer this important service? How have others got around this issue? I was told by the operative to use a private contractor but in the past these have offered poor service and mind-boggling charges. Any advice is welcome.

90/180 day rule

EDITOR, In response to Kevin Wrights letter. It never ceases to amaze me how many Brits are still blaming the EU for the 90/180 day rule and regard it as “pettiness” by the EU to punish the UK for leaving.

So here are a few facts.

The 90/180 day rule was introduced in 2013, while the UK was still a member of the EU and was instrumental in formulating it.

It applies to anyone entering the EU from any country who is not an EU member. There are no exceptions.

The UK government, in its wisdom insisted on the UK being treated as a third-party country, like the USA, Canada, Australia, Russia etc.

If you want to blame someone for the absolute chaos that is now affecting the UK in so many ways I suggest you look a little closer to home and assess the true “benefits” of Brexit.
