Although a dog, is a man’s best friend, it is a tragedy they are not always kept in good company or well trained. Recently The Centre, Moncarapacho, which specialises in holidays for disabled children and young adults, had an unexpected pack of hunting dogs break into their park area. There were some fenced-off places for the Peacocks and larger birds. Also a large paddock for the Meerkats and other small animals. “They are all selected, some hand-reared from an early age”, Tom explains. “Animals are a wonderful way of teaching people with special needs, enabling them to be friendly and open in a way, that they sometimes find is difficult with humans.” The interaction is so important. The cost of replacing the animals is expensive but so are repairs and re-lighting the areas. Of course, the main buildings are hugely secure. But the children will miss their friends.

Belinda and Tom have been approached directly by the APAA Board, Jenny, Jane and Jackie, who have offered financial assistance. Funding is being fronted by colinhearn998@gmail.com. “The authorities have taken the case, and are prosecuting.” Tom has a glimmer of a smile. “But some of those animals were part of a big family!” Big Five for all at the Centre. A wonderful caring team.

Feline Furry Tails, landed outside of Anne’s backdoor. Unfortunately, the mother cat had taken flight after a fight with the owner's dog. Her two kittens have since found a good outdoor posting with Judy who was looking for a lodger, and thankfully her pair of lovely dogs are getting some welcome attention from the young enquiring kittens.
