Half the samples contained the herbicide glyphosate, which the World Health Organization (WHO) considers probably carcinogenic. This comes 10 years after the government pledged to cut pesticide volumes in surface water by 90%.
Beware the Lakes
CML has studied water samples from 153 nature reserves and recreational areas and found that pesticides were present in 80% of them, 40% being over the official limit.
